The application of membrane filtration method in the purification process of icodin

Ectoine is an anti-oxidant product derived from the fermentation of moderately saline bacteria found in extreme microorganisms. It is a natural cell protector and a solute for compensating osmotic pressure. It has an extremely strong water retention effect, which can enhance the water retention on the skin surface and stabilize the lipid layer. It is commonly used in skin care and high-end cosmetics. Ectoine has good safety and can be used for the treatment of allergic rhinitis.

Icodine is an amino acid analogue, containing carboxylic acid and tetrahydropyrimidine base. It has good water solubility and is resistant to acids, alkalis and heat.

The separation and purification process of icodin includes: filtration and sterilization of the fermentation broth for clarification → ultrafiltration for decolorization → nanofiltration for desalination and concentration → crystallization, etc. It covers processes and filtration systems such as ceramic membrane filtration, organic ultrafiltration membrane filtration, organic nanofiltration membrane filtration, and ion exchange membrane filtration. In addition to addressing the common issues of purifying small molecules, the purification of icodin also involves problems such as high-salt solutions, residual high-valent salts, sugar and ammonia nitrogen residues. By combining the selection of membrane elements and equipment materials, as well as methods such as ion exchange resins or ion exchange membranes, the product quality goals and process yield goals can be achieved.

The membrane filtration system has numerous advantages in handling small molecule compounds:

Carried out at normal temperature, with mild conditions and without component degradation, it is particularly suitable for heat-sensitive substances.

2. Pure physical filtration, without phase change or chemical reaction, without damaging the active ingredients;

3. High filtration accuracy, uniform pore size distribution, enabling the purification and concentration of active components;

4. The system is simple to operate, has a short process, is easy to clean and maintain.

5. The liquid after membrane treatment is clear and stable in nature, which is conducive to the subsequent processing steps.

6. The system operates in counter-flow mode, requiring no addition of additives and without introducing any new impurities. This effectively resolves the problems of contamination and blockage.

7. The system is designed in a modular manner, making it easy to replace membrane elements. Online cleaning and drainage devices are also designed to reduce labor intensity and production costs, thereby enhancing production efficiency.

8. Made of stainless steel sanitary material, in compliance with QS quality standards;

9. The system is automatically controlled by PLC, reducing labor intensity. The membrane filtration process takes place in a sealed container, enabling clean production.

10. The membrane filtration element has a large filling area, resulting in a small system footprint. This makes it convenient for technological improvements, expansion or new projects, effectively reducing investment costs and production costs.
