The pilot-scale equipment for electrodialysis, BONA-ED-25, operates under an electric field as the driving force. It utilizes the selective permeability of ion-exchange membranes to cause the directional migration of anions and cations, thereby achieving the removal or concentration of salts in the aqueous solution.
Electrodialysis is a relatively mature technology in membrane separation processes. Its application areas include: (1) The removal of salt from process solutions in chemical, food, and pharmaceutical production to ensure product quality or enable the sustainable operation of the production process while minimizing the volume of concentrated brine; (2) Industrial primary water desalination, water desalination in industrial processes, treatment of industrial saline wastewater, desalination of reverse osmosis concentrated water, etc., for the preparation, treatment, and recycling of industrial water; (3) Purification of surface water, desalination of brackish water, and desalination of seawater for the preparation of drinking water and other domestic and drinking water sources.
