The hollow fiber membrane has a fibrous shape and possesses self-supporting properties. It is a type of asymmetric membrane. Its dense layer can be located on the outer surface of the fiber (such as reverse osmosis membrane), or on the inner surface of the fiber (such as microfiltration membrane, nanofiltration membrane and ultrafiltration membrane). For gas separation membranes, the dense layer can be located on either the inner or outer surface.
The hollow fiber membrane is made by processing poly砜 and dimethylacetamide into hollow-core fiber strands, and then coating with high-permeability polymers. It has the characteristic of selective permeation. When a liquid flows axially under a certain pressure, small molecules with diameters smaller than the micropores pass through the fiber wall along with the solvent (such as water) as the permeate liquid, while solutes with diameters larger than the micropores (such as bacteria, Escherichia coli, viruses, pyrogens, colloids, suspended particles, and other macromolecular substances, etc.) are retained, thereby achieving the purposes of separation, purification, and concentration.
The industrial equipment for hollow fiber membranes is widely used in fields such as biology, pharmaceuticals, food, blood products, chemical engineering, and environmental protection.
Carried out at room temperature, with mild conditions and no component degradation, it is particularly suitable for substances that are sensitive to heat.
