Ultrafiltration membranes are a type of microporous filtration membrane with uniform pore sizes and a rated pore size range of less than 0.01 microns. When an appropriate pressure is applied to one side of the membrane, solute molecules smaller than the pore size can be screened out, thereby separating particles with a molecular weight greater than 500 Daltons (atomic mass units) and a particle size greater than 10 nanometers. Ultrafiltration membranes are one of the earlier developed high-molecular separation membranes, and ultrafiltration devices were industrialized in the 1960s. They can separate target products of different molecular weights, thus replacing traditional purification processes such as activated carbon decolorization, resin impurity removal, and crystallization extraction, achieving the purposes of decolorization, impurity removal, and product classification.
